Questions
Privacy at LearnBoard in the Order People Ask About It.
What LearnBoard reads from your LMS
LearnBoard connects to your LMS database read-only and queries it to draw dashboards. A validator rejects any statement that is not SELECT, WITH, SHOW, DESCRIBE or EXPLAIN, so it cannot write to, alter or delete anything in your LMS.
Where your learner data lives
In your LMS, where it already was. LearnBoard does not take a copy of your database. It caches aggregated figures so dashboards load from cache rather than re-querying live, and those aggregates are held per organisation in a separate space.
What LearnBoard stores about you
The accounts you create, the dashboards you build, your workspace branding and configuration, and the audit trail of reporting, AI and administration events. Demo requests store the name, email and organisation given, and whether that person returned.
Who can see it
Only the people you give a role to. Access is controlled by role-based permissions over a permission registry, every sign-in passes a human check and rate limiting, and the separation between organisations is enforced server-side rather than by a filter in the interface.
The AI assistant and your data
Questions are answered against your connected data under the permissions of the person asking. AI provider keys are held on the LearnBoard server and never reach a browser. On Business and above you may supply your own OpenAI or Anthropic keys.
The Moodle plugins
Your LMS server and LearnBoard talk to each other directly, with a shared key no browser ever sees. Each page load issues a short-lived, read-only pass limited to your organisation. With sign-in mapping on, people are recognised from their Moodle sign-in the first time they arrive, and no password is ever created or copied.
Retention
Audit log entries are retained for 730 days by default. Database backups are taken daily. Ask us if you need a specific retention arrangement.
Certifications
We hold no SOC 2, ISO 27001 or GDPR certification and this page does not imply one. What is described here is what is implemented.
Where the servers are
Your hosting location is agreed as part of your deployment and written into your contract, and the self-hosted licence keeps everything on your own servers. Ask us and we will confirm exactly where yours sits.
Getting in touch about your data
Write to us through the contact page. If you self-host LearnBoard, your installation and the data in it are yours and we hold none of it.
Which platforms does LearnBoard support?
LearnNoow and Moodle. Connect either one read-only and the same dashboards, charts, alerts and AI answers run on it. Nothing is installed on LearnNoow; Moodle has two free companion plugins.
Privacy answered. Security has its own page.
It covers the same ground from the administrator's side: what stops a write, what the plugins send, and the standards every control is built to. Works with LearnNoow and Moodle.
